Q. Daawat-e-Ishq is all about food and you’re a big time foodie, you must have enjoyed shooting na?
Totally! In fact all three of us – Anupam Kher Sir, Aditya Roy Kapoor and I, love food. I’d say Daawat-e-Ishq is a celebration of love and food.
Q. How was your experience of working with Aditya Roy Kapoor?
He's a good actor. After working with him in this film I’ve realized that only Aditya can compete with me when it comes to eating (laughs). Both of us love food and we would devour dishes in minutes. In Dawat-e-ishq I got to eat so much! I really think this film is tailor made for me.
Q: Have you ever tried your hand at cooking?
No. I’m a very bad cook. I love to eat but hate cooking.
Q. Daawat-e-Ishq is your second film with Habib Faisal. How was the comfort level this time?
I have high regards for Habib sir. He gave me Ishaqzaade, which was a big landmark in my career. I think we have begun to understand one another. I’m proud to be working with Habib sir again.
Q. One thing that brings a smile on your face?
Delicious food. I love food passionately. I like watching food shows and always want to know more about different cuisine. Then comes music.
Q. Have you changed yourself according to your profession?
No I haven’t. I always speak my mind. When I talk to someone, I speak bluntly. I don’t like to filter things. People usually tell me how can you talk to someone without thinking anything. But I am like that only and I won’t change.
Q. What's the best compliment you’ve ever received?
It was by late Mr. Yash Chopra. After watching Ladies v/s Ricky Bahl, he called me at 7 in the morning and said I want to say thank you for doing my film. It was such a huge thing for me that Yashji had called to thank me. I should’ve called him and been thankful to him for giving me the film. I'll never forget that moment.
